The venue and caters are more than happy to work with you and your vision. We chose Maddelena's and they were stellar! Food was amazing and their coordinator is hands down one of the best people to work with for all of your food and bar needs. Some see that as a negative but I am here to tell you it was a major blessing. They do require you to choose from their verified cater list. Everything was placed for ease of access and flowed very nicely. We had a really fun floor plan playing with round and long/rectangle tables. Talking to them I felt comfortable and confident that this is where we want to be. It's a venue you don't have to do a ton too to make it your own or look how you envisioned it. From the moment we walked in, every other venue went right out of my mind and I said "this is it!". Talk to the individuals who run it and get the feel of what it will be like that day. My only advice to brides who are wondering about a venue is go there in person and look at it. From the get-go they are available for any questions and suggestions. All we had was our centerpieces and a few things here and there and the place looked gorgeous!! The staff is amazing. One really nice thing about it is that because it's so elegant and has a feeling of it's own, you really don't have to put hardly any decoration in there to make it your own. ![]() We received SO many compliments about the staff and the venue. ![]() We ended up having a crew of just under 250 guests and everyone fit perfectly with PLENTY of space to move around and have areas to chat. Everything is beautifully placed and has been redone to perfection. Irs, open concept, beautiful city views, etc. I really felt very little stress for coordinating with the vendors because I could just tell Leslie had a handle on it! Read More They really help you coordinate with their preferred vendors to make sure everything is set up and organized for the day of. Leslie and Marija were so kind and helpful with all of the planning. I think now that the bridal suite is ready and the fourth floor is renovated, this is the most beautiful venue in Grand Rapids, hands down. Unfortunately the bridal suite wasn't ready yet but that didn't affect our day at all because I had already planned for us to get ready at a salon off-site. They just redid the fourth floor and we were the first wedding that it was ready for and The High Five really did an amazing job with it. This was produced from a molding taken of Oliver’s hand at FabLab Sunderland which was in turn used to cast a foam copy of his hand.Are lighting and chandeliers, a built in bar, and incredibly clean and up to date bathrooms. Onto this is a casting of Oliver’s own hand which was a difficult job. The frame is built from a modular kit form. The motor needed more power than first thought and this resulted in changing the mechanism to a flip release at the motor. Immediate thoughts were to use the Arduino open source electronics prototyping platform to control a motor to operate a cam. Oliver visited the Fab Lab Sunderland to explain his idea to the maker Tony Canning. I say ‘High Five’ and it high fives when it springs up and it turns red and says ‘High 5’ when the hands meet each other. When you succeed at something but there is no one around to give you a hi five, this machine is perfect. An invention idea by Oliver, age 6, made real by Tony Canning of Fab Lab Sunderland.
